Connor Construction was started by Ian Webb in 2008, building on over 25 year’s experience of the industry and personal dedication to good site practice.
Our company has grown significantly over the years, now offering a large fleet of pavers, rollers and low loaders, and a dedicated staff of over 100 people.
Our fleet of transport vehicles and company uniform has been branded so that we can be identified immediately – we take pride in our work and our brand. We like to think we stand out from the crowd.
The business was set up as a supplier of labour to the surfacing industry offering a wide range of experience. Due to our high standard of work and health & safety practices – coupled with our happy, can-do, go anywhere team – Connor’s customer base has quickly grown from our humble beginnings to include all the major surfacing companies, local authorities – including the Falkland Islands Government, regional/ local builders and private individuals. We now offer a comprehensive package of surfacing solutions to our clients.
We pride ourselves in the quality of our workmanship. We understand that clear processes and procedures are essential in the provision of a quality service and sought certification to ISO 9001:2008 early in the company’s life.
Our attention to detail and quality remains at the forefront of our offering to our clients.
Health and Safety
Health & Safety is a priority here – we do not tolerate neglectful site practices which put our people and those affected by our work at risk. We have had zero reportable accidents since the company started – a statistic we are determined to maintain.
We consistently train and update all staff and have been awarded the Platinum CSCS status, demonstrating our commitment.
Our Health & Safety Partner Safety Horizon South West, led by Mark Stallard (CMIOSH), provides simple and sensible advice, working closely with us to ensure that our teams take ownership and responsibility for health & safety. Mark provides health & safety information and guidance that is interesting and easy to understand.
We understand the impact our services and products can have on the environment and are committed to reducing that impact. We have a management system that is externally audited and certified to ISO 14001:2007 which ensures that we continually assess our activities and processes in terms of their environmental impact and sustainability.
We have recently completed an upgrade of our fleet vehicles, ensuring our new crewbuses and vans are eco-friendly, reducing our emissions. We carefully plan our plant movements to reduce the road miles covered.
What does the future hold for us?
We plan to do more, provide more and support our communities further – we will continue to grow in line with client needs, seek further technological advance and keep working with our local community to provide a sense of well-being and opportunities for young people.
